After many years of anticipated waiting, construction has begun for The Margaritaville Resort. Located on Fort Myers Beach, on the north end of Estero Island at the base of the Matanzas Bridge. They are hopeful the build out of the 254-room resort will be completed within two years. The Jimmy Buffet themed resort will have various bars and restaurants, a hotel, and public beach club. They anticipate that half of their business will come from non-lodging.
The Margaritaville Resort boasts over 370’ of Gulf and beach view, a rooftop terrace, a live music stage, multiple resort style pools and parking garage. Additionally, a pedestrian overpass will be built across Estero Boulevard for use by both guests and the public.
Although there was much opposition to its development, many saying it will take away that “small-town” feeling, there are those who welcome the development with open arms. Long-time residents resisted the changes, but the developers, TPI Hositality, believe Margaritaville is a brand that has the same vibe as the current Fort Myers Beach atmosphere.
