Tammie Nemecek - President & Chief Executive Officer

Tammie Nemecek currently serves as president and CEO of the Economic Development Council of Collier County (EDC).  She has been with the EDC since 1994, serving in various capacities throughout her tenure, including membership, operations, research, business retention & recruitment and industry specialist for the biomedical & information technology industries. In her capacity as president and chief executive officer, she is responsible for the creation and retention of high wage, knowledge-based jobs throughout Collier County, including the communities of Naples, Immokalee, Marco Island, Golden Gate, Everglades City and Ave Maria.

The Economic Development Council of Collier County is a private, not-for-profit corporation. In 1997, a Public/private Partnership for Economic Diversification was established with the Collier County Board of Commissioners.  Since that time, the EDC has assisted businesses in the creation and retention of over 3,000 jobs with a direct economic impact of over $200 million.

Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, Tammie moved to Naples in 1973.  She attended Eckerd College and Hodges University and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in management.  She served as administrator for the Fifth Avenue Business Association in 1995, during the redevelopment of Naples downtown Main Street, in addition to her more than 10 years of service with the EDC.

Tammie currently serves on the Stakeholder’s Council for Enterprise Florida and is on the board of the Economic Development Foundation, Florida Economic Development Council, Chairman of the Board of Directors; Florida Heartland Rural Economic Development Initiative, Southwest Florida Workforce Development Board, Southwest Florida Economic Development Partners, and Gulf Coast Venture Forum.

Tammie was recognized in 2003 by Gulfshore Business Magazine and in 2007 by Gulf Coast Business Review as one of Southwest Florida’s 40 under 40 top executives.  In addition, ABWA recognized Tammie Nemecek in 2005 for her business leadership as part of the national Women in History celebration and she was also recognized in 2005 by Florida Trend for her efforts to attract new industry to the Florida Tradeport in Immokalee.  In 2006, Hodges University selected her to receive their Founders Award, an honor annually conferred upon a Hodges University graduate who has provided outstanding and distinguished service to Collier and Lee Counties. In 2007, Tammie received the Women of Achievement award from the American Association of University Women.

Tammie is a 2005 graduate of Leadership Collier and a member of Leadership Florida’s Class XXV. She is an advocate for collaborative relationships between industry and education and creating a “community of opportunity” for Collier County. Tammie has three children: Zachary, Blake and Lyndi.
