The HUBZone Empowerment Contracting Program is a program of the U.S.
Small Business Administragion and provides federal contracting
opportunites for qualified small businesses in destressed areas.
Currently, Collier County has four census tracts which are designated
as HUBZones: 112.04, 112.05, 113 and 114. All four tracts are within
the Immokalee Enterprise Zone.
The Welfare-to-Work Tax Credit is a federal income tax credit that
encourages employers to hire long-term family assistance recipients
who begin to work any time after December 31, 1997, and before
January, 2004. Established by the Taxpayer Relief Act of 1997,
this new tax credit can reduce employers' federal tax liablity by
as much as $8,500 per new hire.

The Work Opportunity Tax Credit is one tool designed to help people move from
welfare to work and gain on-the-job experience. It joins other education and
job training initiatives and targeted tax credits, which help American
workers prepare for good jobs; ease the transition from job to job; and
create high performance workplaces.
