Tips choosing the right Naples Realtor
The Realtor Code of Ethics attempts to hold Realtors to their set of professional standards, even higher than the state law requirements for real estate agents. Not all real estate agents are Realtors, but all Realtors should be qualified real estate agents, so check if the real estate agent is a Realtor beforehand. The problem is not having the ethics but rather in the enforcement of the ‘ethics’ on unprofessional and unethical business practices in the real estate business.
A good start is to check to see if the Realtor has a license in good standing with the state. You can find that information online using their Real Estate License number. You could also ask if the Realtor would represent the buyer, the seller, or both during a transaction?
Another good question is if the Realtor is in the real estate business full time or is it just part time job for them? You could also ask if they belong to several MLS (Multiple Listing Boards), which could give your listing more exposure?
Probably the most important question or observation is how well you communicate with your Realtor. Good, open, honest communication is key for success!
Get several references from past customers of your chosen Realtor to see for yourself if they have delivered on their promise of quality service and what you could expect in return.
Knowing the Naples Florida market is only part of the business. Being able to deliver on the promise of finding you a buyer or finding you your perfect home, is another.
On another note, not all real estate agents are Realtors. One does not have to be a Realtor to sell or help others buy homes in Florida and it has nothing to do with the competency of the agent.
